Who Are We?

931 Elite Sports Training is owned and operated by two local families who are passionate about sports and the desire to see young players grow and develop in Cookeville and the surrounding region. 

The Pattesons

John played collegiate baseball as a pitcher at Tennessee Tech University.  He came to Tech from Bearden High School in Knoxville, TN.  During his time at Bearden, he received All-District, All-KIL, and All-State accolades with 2 no-hitters thrown his Senior year.  Once at Tennessee Tech, John had 32 appearances before suffering a career ending shoulder injury. He was part of the 2001 OVC Championship team where they also appeared in the NCAA Tournament.  Now, John still loves being around the game by coaching and working with kids of all ages.

Sarah, being part of a large family, has been around sports her whole life. She played both softball and basketball throughout high school. You can find her around almost any facility or complex cheering on her kids, her friends’ kids or one of her many nieces and nephews – PS you are sure to hear her before you see her! 

The Pattesons have three kids who play multiple sports – Kinzlee, Cruz and Crozby. You’ll find them hanging around 931 Elite as much as their parents!

The Canadas

Greg and Laura are both Division 1 collegiate athletes who met at Tennessee Tech University and loved the area so much they decided to put down roots.  

Baseball has always been a huge part of Greg’s life. Greg signed as a pitcher with one of the country’s premier Junior College programs out of High School - Walters State. After a medical redshirt his Freshman year he went on to have a strong Sophomore season going 6-0 and an ERA of 2.53 and a SO/Innings pitched of 1.07. Greg then signed with Tennessee Tech University where he appeared in 6 games with an ERA of 2.31. During the early part of his junior year he suffered a career ending elbow injury but his love to teach and be around the game never changed.

Laura’s passion for baseball is evident, but her true love lies on the volleyball court where she played four years on scholarship at Tennessee Tech University. During her career, she became a member of the Double Grand club with 1,406 kills and 1,147 digs. She still holds the individual match record for most kills per set and total kills in both three and five sets. 

The Canadas have two energetic young boys, Ty and Carter, who continue to grow in their love for the sport.
